Aaron Douglas (born May 26, 1900 in Topeka, Kansas - died February 3, 1979), was a United States of America|U.S. painter and a major figure in the Harlem Renaissance. Douglas received his B.F.A. degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1922. He based his style on traditional African styles and broke down figures into geometric objects.
