A
Alex Olmedo was a world-class tennis player of the 1950s and '60s. Although born and raised in Peru, he attended college in the United States and, in a controversial move, represented the United States on the International Davis Cup in 1958/1959. He was a Wimbledon championships|Wimbledon, Australian National Singles, United States Doubles, and United States Indoor Singles champion. He was inducted into the international Tennis Hall of Fame in 1987. Alex Olmedo was the first Latin American to win the Wimbledon men's singles title.
