Anne Archer (born August 25 1947) is an United
States|American movie and television|TV actress.
She was born in Los Angeles, California|Los
Angeles, California. Her parents were actors
(actress Marjorie Lord and actor John Archer);
this influenced her strongly as a child. She
studied theater arts and succeeded in getting a
role opposite Jon Voight in the 1970 movie The
All-American Boy. This film and the following she
made did not give her the recognition she sought.
Her off-Broadway performance in  1981 helped her
finally to get roles in the right movies to become
a respected actress.

One of the outstanding films she played in was the
1987 thriller Fatal Attraction, in which she had
the part of Michael Douglas character's wife. Her
interpretation earned her an Academy Award
nomination as Best Supporting Actress. In 1992,
she played the part of a doctor and wife to CIA
Analyst Jack Ryan in Patriot Games opposite
Harrison Ford.

Probably best remembered for the previous two
movies and The Narrow Margin|Narrow Margin, the
last co-starring Gene Hackman, Archer cites her
performances in Mojave Moon and Dark Summer as the
ones she is currently most proud of. In addition
to cinematic releases, she has also played in a
number of made for TV movies.

Archer married William Davis in 1968, but they
later divorced. In 1979, she married Terry
Jastrow.  Archer has two sons, one from each
marriage.
