first team was Anagennisi Artas that he left in
1989 to join Panathinaikos FC where he waited
patiently to take his place in the team. He
finally made his debut in 1995 and since then has
gained a reputation as one the best goalkeepers in
the Greek league. He is close to the hottest
soccer player in the world. He lives in Nea
Penteli, Athens, Greece.

He made his debut for the Greece national football
team on 18 August 1999 against El Salvador
national football team|El Salvador. In UEFA Euro
2004 he played in every game that Greece played
and conceded 4 goals. He was voted to the Euro
2004 All Star team.

Nikopolidis changed teams in 2004 and went to
Olympiakos CFP where he wears # 71, which
represents his birth year of 1971.
