Bixente Lizarazu (born December 9, 1969 in Saint-Jean-de-Luz, France) is a football (soccer) defender (football)|left defender and midfielder for Bayern Munich and France national football team|France. Lizarazu, a Basque people|Basque, has been capped 95 times for France, and helped them win the Wc|1998 and Ec2|2000. He has won four Bundesliga (football)|Bundesliga championships with Bayern Munich, as well as three German Cups, the UEFA Champions League|Champions League, and the European/South American Cup|Intercontinental Cup. Before coming to Germany, Lizarazu played for FC Girondins de Bordeaux|Girondins de Bordeaux, where he played in the 1996 UEFA Cup final against Bayern; and Athletic Bilbao, where he was the club's only non-Spanish player since World War I. He had said he would leave Bayern in the 2004 offseason, and eventually signed with Olympique de Marseille|Olympique Marseille. However, six months after signing with Marseille, he returned to Bayern Munich in January 2005.
