Cerrone (full name: Jean-Marc Cerrone) is a France|French singer and music producer born in Paris, and one of the best representatives of the European Disco. At the age of 12 he started playing drum kit|drums and listening to Otis Redding's songs. His passion for music scared his father, who tried to distract him from his obsession. By the end of the 60's, he was fascinated by, among others, Jimi Hendrix, Carlos Santana, and Blood, Sweat & Tears. At the age of 17 he convinced Gilbert Trigano to hire rock bands for his famous holiday clubs: The Club Med (Club Mediterranée). Cerrone became the A&R (artist and repertoire) for 40 Club Med vacation villages around the world. He signed with the French label Barclay, and released his first hit, Boom. In 1975 he moved to London, where he recorded, mixed and produced his album "Love in C Minor", released in 1976 in music|1976. Distributed in the USA by Atlantic Records, and famous for its 17-minute title song with erotic appeal, the album became a smash dance hit, reaching 10 million copies sold worldwide. On the next year, Cerrone released "Supernature", another disco classic, with 8 million copies sold. The song "Supernature" has a sci-fi theme: it's about the rebellion of super creatures - fed by potions created by science|scientists to end up starvation among mankind - against the humans. With these two albums, Cerrone became the first French disco superstar. Cerrone also won 5 Grammy Awards and some Golden Globes.
