Dame Cicely Courtneidge (April 1, 1893 – April 26, 1980) was an English comedienne, born in Sydney, Australia. Well known in the years between World War I and World War II she starred in slapstick comedies like Falling For You (1933) and Soldiers of the King (1934). She performed regularly on stage in Britain. She also gave performances in Melbourne Australia around the late 1930s. Her services to British Theatre resulted in her being made a Dame. She was married to comedian Jack Hulbert. comedian-stub
