Biography of Curtis Strange - Golfer
Biography
C
Curtis Northrup Strange (born 1955) is a U.S. golfer. He is thought of as one of the leading golfers of the 1980’s as 16 of his 17 PGA Tour victories took place in that decade. He topped the PGA Tour money list in 1985 and 1987 and in 1988, when he became the first man to win a million dollars in official money on the Tour in a season. His two majors were the 1988 and 1989 U.S. Open (golf)|U.S. Opens and at this point it seemed that Strange was on the verge of building a truly great career, but as things turned out he never won on the PGA Tour again. ==PGA Tour wins== *1979 Pensacola Open *1980 Michelob-Houston Open, Westchester Classic|Manufacturers Hanover Westchester Classic *1983 Sammy Davis Jr.-Greater Hartford Open *1984 Lajet Golf Classic *1985 Honda Classic, Panasonic Las Vegas Invitational, Canadian Open *1986 Houston Open *1987 Canadian Open, Federal Express St. Jude Classic, NEC World Series of Golf *1988 Independent Insurance Agent Open, Memorial Tournament, U.S. Open (golf)|U.S. Open, Nabisco Championship *1989 U.S. Open (golf)|U.S. Open Strange's major championships are shown in bold. ==Other professional wins== *1986 ABC Cup (Japan) *1988 Sanctuary Cove Classic (Australia) *1989 Palm Meadows Cup (Australia), PGA Grand Slam of Golf (United States - unofficial event) *1993 Greg Norman's Holden Classic (Australia) ==External links== *http://www.pgatour.com/players/intro/132118 Profile on the PGA Tour's official site *http://www.golfstarsonline.com/S/Curtis_Strange/ Golf Stars Online - links to features and profiles golf-stub
