Diego Pablo Simeone (born April 28, 1970 in Buenos Aires) is an Argentina|Argentine football (soccer)|football midfielder, he is the most capped player ever for Argentina national football team|Argentina. In his club career that started in 1987, Simeone played for VÊlez Sarsfield, Pisa Calcio|Pisa, Sevilla FC, Atletico Madrid, Internazionale|Inter Milan, and S.S. Lazio|Lazio. He is currently playing for Racing Club de Avellaneda|Racing Club. For Argentina, Simeone, nicknamed El Cholo, amassed 106 caps, the first coming in 1988. He played in the Football World Cup 1994|1994, Football World Cup 1998|1998 and Football World Cup 2002|2002 Football World Cup|World Cups. It was in the 1998 Cup that he was part of an incident with David Beckham; the English star kicked Simeone and was sent off. Never a big scorer, Simeone has scored 11 goals for his country. He was considered a great leader on the pitch. Although intimidating on the field, Simeone is humble off it, calling it an "embarrassment" when he passed Diego Maradona on the Argentine cap list.
