Fernando Manuel Silva Couto (born 2 August 1969 in Espinho) is a Portugal|Portuguese football (soccer)|football player. He played as a defender (football)|defender for the Portugal national football team|Portuguese national team during Euro 2004 and was also their captain. He has played in Portugal, Spain and Italy and has won the league title of each country. He currently plays in Italy's Serie A for S.S. Lazio|Lazio.
