Born in Yefimovka, Orenburg Oblast, Russian SFSR on June 1, 1950. Married with two children. Selected as a cosmonaut on September 2, 1985. Retired on December 20, 1996. Flew as Commander on Soyuz TM-10 and Soyuz TM-16.
