H
Henry Bennion Eyring (born May 31 1933 in
Princeton, New Jersey) is an Apostle
(Mormonism)|apostle of The Church of Jesus Christ
of Latter-day Saints.  He was the second child
born to Henry Eyring and his wife Mildred Bennion.


Eyring was sustained to the Quorum of the Twelve
Apostles of the Church on April 1 1995, and
ordained an apostle following the death of
President Howard W. Hunter. He is the son of noted
chemist Henry Eyring and the nephew of Camilla
Eyring Kimball, wife of President Spencer W.
Kimball.

Before serving as a member of the Quorum of the
Twelve Apostles, he served as president of Ricks
College (now Brigham Young University-Idaho) and
then as a Counselor in the Church's Presiding
Bishopric. Before these ecclesiastical
appointments, Eyring followed in the footsteps of
his father and worked as a scientist. He has a
B.S. in Physics from the University of Utah and
masters degree|Masters and PhD|Doctorate in
Business Administration from Harvard University.

He has served twice as Church Commissioner of
Education, first from September 1980 to April 1985
and most recently from September 1992 to January
2005 when he was replaced by
