James Edward Talmage (September 21, 1862–July 27, 1933) was a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints from December 8, 1911 until his death in 1933. He taught science at BYU|Brigham Young Academy and served as president of the University of Utah. He was the author of Jesus the Christ, The House of the Lord, The Great Apostasy and The Articles of Faith, books clarifying LDS doctrine, still widely read by Latter Day Saints.
