Jens Jeremies (born March 5 1974 in Görlitz, East Germany) is a Germany|German football (soccer)|footballer, a hard-tackling defensive midfielder. As of 2005, he plays in the Bundesliga (football)|Bundesliga for Bayern Munich|Bayern München. Jeremies began his career in 1980 as a youth player with the local side Motor Görlitz. In 1986 he moved to Dynamo Dresden and in 1995 to TSV 1860 München. Jeremies signed for Bayern München in 1998. All his club successes have come with Bayern München, three league championships (1999–2001) and victory in the UEFA Champions League|Champions League (2001). Jeremies was given his first cap for the Germany national football team|German national team on November 15, 1997 in a friendly game against South Africa national football team|South Africa. He then played in the 1998 World Cup. Jeremies was dropped from the national team during the build up to Euro 2000 when he called the side "pathetic". He was later reinstated in the national squad and played in the 2002 World Cup.
