Joe Kinnear (born December 27, 1946 in Dublin) is a football (soccer)|football manager. Joe Kinnear played football as a full back for Tottenham Hotspur F.C.|Tottenham Hotspur and the Republic of Ireland national football team|Republic of Ireland national team. More renowned as a manager, he became manager of Wimbledon F.C.|Wimbledon in 1992, leading them to sixth in the FA Premier League|Premiership, their highest ever position in the top flight, and to the semi-finals of the FA Cup|FA Cup. After Wimbledon, Joe Kinnear managed Luton Town F.C.|Luton Town until being sacked by a mystery consortium which had taken control of the club. In 2004 he was manager of Nottingham Forest F.C.|Nottingham Forest before resigning on 16 December after winning only 4 of 23 games played. During his time as a manager he angered many fans of rival clubs, most notably Plymouth Argyle F.C.|Plymouth Argyle and Sheffield United F.C.|Sheffield United, due to comments he made.
