Julianne Moore (born Julie Anne Smith on December
3, 1960 in Fayetteville, North Carolina) is a
United Kingdom|British-American actor|actress -
her father is American, her mother Scottish. 
Before beginning her career as an actress, she
received her Bachelor's degree from Boston
University. She first came to fame playing the
Daytime Emmy Award-winning roles of Frannie and
Sabrina Hughes on the soap opera As the World
Turns, playing the sisters from 1985 to 1988.

However, most know her today as a film actress.
She was nominated for two Academy Awards in 2003:
for Academy Award for Best Actress|Best Actress
(Far From Heaven) and for Academy Award for Best
Supporting Actress|Best Supporting Actress (The
Hours (movie)|The Hours). She was also nominated
for a Golden Globe Award and a Screen Actors
Guild|SAG award for her performances in Far From
Heaven in 2003.  She was nominated for an Academy
Award for Best Actress in 1999 for The End of the
Affair and was nominated for a Best Supporting
Actress Academy Award in 1997 for Boogie Nights.

She has been married three times:
