Karrie Anne Webb (born 21 December, 1974) is an
Australian professional golfer, and is Australia's
best female player and one of the most successful
players of all time. She has won a large number
of women's majors|major championships, including
the Women's British Open in 1995, 1997, and 2002,
and the U.S. Women's Open Championship (golf)|U.S.
Women's Open in 2000 and 2001, amongst a number of
other tournaments.
Webb grew up in Ayr, Queensland|Ayr in Queensland,
and still maintains a residence there. She began
her professional golfing career in 1994, joining
the US LPGA tour in 1996.
She qualified for the World Golf Hall of Fame in
2000, but was not eligible for induction until she
completed her 10th year on the LPGA tour in 2005.
Webb met the 10-year criterion on June 9, 2005
when she completed the first round of the LPGA
Championship, her 10th start in that year. She
will become the youngest living person ever to
enter the Hall of Fame, and will keep that
distinction until 2007, when fellow LPGA star and
Hall of Fame qualifier Se Ri Pak completes her
10th year on tour. (The 19th century great Tom
Morris, Jr., who was elected in 1975, died at age
24.) Karrie Webb currently has endorsement deals
with Epson, Srixon Golf, Oakley, and Scudder
Investments. In 2003 Webb was outed as lesbian by
an Australian journalist. Webb is currently
involved in a relationship with fellow LPGA player
Kelly Robbins
