Marcia Gay Harden (born August 17, 1959 in La Jolla, California) is an Oscar-winning United States|American actor|actress. She graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a B.A. in theatre and earned an MFA from the graduate theatre program of New York University. She is married to Thaddaeus Scheel. A two-time Oscar nominee, she first appeared on Broadway theatre|Broadway in Tony Kushner's Angels in America in 1993 and has since appeared in the films Meet Joe Black (1998), Pollock (movie)|Pollock (2000), (for which she received an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress) and Mystic River (2003) (for which she received a second Oscar nomination). Her niece Audrey Harden (1993-December 16, 2003) died in Queens, New York of burns from a house fire.
