Mark Calcavecchia (b. June 12 1960, Laurel, Nebraska) is an American golfer. He attended the University of Florida, turned professional in 1981 and joined the PGA Tour in 1982. Calcavecchia was as his best in the late 1980s, notching up his most notable achievement in 1989, when he won the The Open Championship|British Open which is one of golf's four major championships. That year was his only multi-win season on the PGA Tour, with two other titles complimenting the Open. As of the end of the 2004 season, Calcavecchia had won eleven times on the PGA Tour, and nine further times in other professional events, and his career earnings on the PGA Tour exceeded sixteen million dollars.
