Oleg Alekseyevich Protopopov (b. November 22, 1935,in Ulyanovsk (now Simbirsk), Russia,(then Soviet Union) was Russian-born figure skater. He is listed in the World Figure Skating Championships list together with his pair partner Ludmila Belousova . Protopopov has won twice gold medals in pairs at the Olympic Winter Games in 1964, in Innsbruck, Austria, and 1968, in Grenoble.On September 24, while Protopopov was in European tour, he defected ,together with his partner Ludmila Belousowa , in Switzerland, they applied for political asylum.
