Portia de Rossi (b. 31 January 1973) is an
Australian actor|actress, working in the United
States. She was born Amanda Lee Rogers in
Melbourne, Victoria and grew up in Grovedale, a
suburb of Geelong. She took on her present name at
the age of 15.

Her first significant role was as a young,
impressionable model in the 1994 in film |1994
film Sirens (film)|Sirens.  She also had a role in
Scream 2, and played regular lawyer Nelle Porter
on the popular series Ally McBeal. In 2001 she
starred in Who is Cletis Tout? with Christian
Slater. As of 2004 she stars as Characters from
Arrested Development#Lindsay Bluth FÃ¼nke|Lindsay
Bluth FÃ¼nke on Fox Television's critically
acclaimed Arrested Development (TV
series)|Arrested Development.

In December of 2004 De Rossi became involved with
popular comedian Ellen DeGeneres. Earlier, she had
been involved in a longterm relationship with
singer Francesca Gregorini (nÃ©e Countess
Francesca McKnight Donatella Romana Gregorini di
Savingniano di Romagnia), the daughter of actress
Barbara Bach and a stepchild of Ringo Starr.
According to press reports, the two women
reportedly had been planning to cement their
relationship in a commitment ceremony or marriage
before De Rossi met Degeneres. De Rossi has
officially announced that she is dating Ellen, and
is a lesbian.
