Ray Romano (born December 21, 1957 in Queens, New
York) is an Italian American actor and comedian.
Before breaking into show business, he had planned
to become an accounting|accountant. He is
currently married to Anna Scarpula, and they have
four children, including one pair of twins. Ray

of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?, on which he won

Romano was originally cast to play Joe in the
now-canceled American television Situation
comedy|sitcom NewsRadio, but was fired prior to
getting Everybody Loves Raymond. It was revealed
that his particular brand of verbal comedy did not
mix well with the fast-paced repartee of the rest
of the cast.
